ISP / BANDWIDTH MANAGEMENT

Critical components of any Internet hosting environment are the management of bandwidth and the upstream provider (ISP).  Expedite Network Services has extensive experience in establishing lasting relationships with upstreams, providing a stable and scalable connection to its clients’ providers.

Using our Data Center, you have the option of bringing in your own upstream provider, or having Expedite Network Services do it for you.  Whatever your choice, Expedite Network Services will work with you to obtain service in the shortest time possible.

In obtaining bandwidth, the client needs to first decide if they would like Expedite Network Services to act on their behalf with an upstream provider or if they would like to handle that aspect themselves. Expedite Network Services recommends that it manage the acquisition process, as it has years of experience doing so. Although Expedite Network Services doesn’t recommend any specific upstream providers, it does have a short list of providers that it prefers to work with, as they have proven to be among the most cost-effective in delivering quality services.

Once bandwidth is obtained, Expedite Network Services will also manage the “turn up” process (see below), as well as the relationship with the upstream provider and the client.  In allowing Expedite Network Services to manage the circuit, clients have the benefit of not having to share bandwidth with other clients, and are free to use the circuit as they wish.  Clients are able to grow the “network” size to a size appropriate to their current and future needs.

Client Upstream Turn up:

“Turn up” involves a number of steps conducted between the upstream provider and Expedite Network Services.  Forms have to be submitted, establishing contact points for the relationship, requesting IP space and circuit.  Clients already having allocated IP space can ask for that space to be re-routed.  Alternatively, new IP space can be requested, generally allocated by providers as /27.  Should a client require additional IP space, Expedite Network Services will help in justifying and allocating that space.

Once forms are accepted and final arrangements are contracted, the upstream provider will provide a turn up date, during which time Expedite Network Services can order the cross connect, cage, cabinet, and port for the circuit.  Concurrently, we will also configure the client’s server (either shipped by client, or obtained by Expedite Network Services), in preparation for final “turn up”.

While managing this process, Expedite Network Services can present itself as an employee of the client, or as an outside consultant, whichever the client prefers.
