Where a customer wishes to provide and manage their own server, Expedite Network Services provides colocated hosting in its data center hosting environment. Colocation provides increased performance, privacy and security compared with shared hosting. It is appropriate where the customer requires and has the resources to maintain control over its server.

To get your company into a data center that has the security, vendors, and space of the Expedite Network Services facility is normally a long process. Typical lead times can easily exceed three months before an organization is fully set up and ready to operate, not even taking into account the additional provisioning time needed with an upstream provider, the requisite cross connects, and equipment installation.  With Expedite Network Services, all a client has to do is lease the hardware from us, or ship us the equipment that they want to use in the data center facility.

Expedite Network Services maintains the network connection, security and power management for the locker and building, and the customer provides and manages the hardware and software including operating system updates. Security
The hosting environment is protected in a fully integrated building management system. Strict access protocols, 24 hour security guards, CCTV and biometric hand readers protect the data center from unauthorized access. The Expedite Network Services environment is located in a locked cage within the data center and is only accessible to a limited number of authorized Expedite Network Services personnel.

Internet Bandwidth
The hosting environment provides a high-speed, guaranteed bandwidth, local area network connection to the Internet. Broadband Internet access is provided by a fully redundant meshed carrier class network and four telecommunications providers. Expedite Network Services’ current dedicated upstream Internet connection is 10 megabits, which is underloaded for existing requirements. This can burst to 150 megabits.

Data Traffic
To reduce data traffic surprises, Expedite Network Services calculates data traffic on a rolling 12 month average, enabling us to anticipate and plan for future bandwidth requirements.

Power
The data center facility provides Expedite Network Services with redundant power to its network, with generators, UPS and other power management tools to filter power irregularities. Expedite Network Services staff have remote access to remote power monitoring and management, including restarts, for after hours and remote management.

Monitoring
Servers are monitored during business hours and remotely by Expedite Network Services staff. Specific customer services can also be added to the monitoring system if required, as can remote notifications by SMS messaging or other means in the case of failure reports. Expedite Network Services’ office is near the data center, so staff presence at the facility by our staff can be easily organized during business hours. The center is also accessible to Expedite Network Services staff around the clock.

While server and software maintenance on a colocated server is the customer’s responsibility, Expedite Network Services’ technical staff has wide experience that the client can draw on, should that be necessary.
